I grew up in Feltonville. My parents still have the house and my sis lives there. Didn't play sports at the rec, just used the playground. I spent most of my time at the library. Did you grow up there? Wonder if we went to school together.

What are the boundaries of Feltonville? I think it's near C and the Boulevard - it that right?

North border is the blvd. South, hmm, a bit below Wyoming. West, somewhere between 2nd & 5th? East, between F & Whitaker.

This is a vague quesstimate. Only definite one I know is the blvd.

I'd love to hear the answer to this one as well.

No I grew up nearby enough to make the 20 minute walk to the rec from my house...my friends played sports there and invited me to join them!

First post time for me.

I also grew up in Feltonville, but in the 70's.

4580 Pennhurst St. (next to G St and Wyoming Ave)
- Attended Clara Barton Elementary School
- Still an ardent Phillies and Eagles fan
- Live in Georgia, but can still close my eyes and see my old neighborhood.
- Visited old neighborhood back in the late 80's and it broke my heart
- My Phone was JE3-3144

Things were so different back then. We had block parties and we all knew each other. Last time I visited, they all had ADT security signs on their front lawns and their grass? It needed to be cut! (that was a sin back in my time)

My mother is from Germantown and my father from Kensington.

The security signs and other ugly, overt security measures, I find, pop up regardless of what happens. It always seems more rooted in mistrust/distrust/fear brought from the previous neighrborhood of residence. The minute one car is broken into or one house burgled (that never happens in surburbia!) it's all validated in the eyes of those in fear. It's not the explanation in all cases, but after talking to people that do things like this, it really seems to be part of it.
