That should work.
The 2200 and 2300 blocks of Park Ave. are a mini hot spot for student housing. (Between Susquehanna and York). Park Ave. is between 13th & Broad. |

what is safety? If you walk around looking like a target yeah you will get mugged. if you are out at 2am anywhere in this city you will get mugged including center city. if you dont have a secured building ANYWHERE in the city you will get robbed. SO what are you really asking?

You people have images of this neighborhood that don't comport with 2007 reality. Some of the blocks closer to Temple are approaching 50/50 parity between students and long-time AA residents. It's not your father's North Central Philadelphia. Check out the 1700 block of Monument (near Berks). Two brand new 3-story rowhomes being built from the ground up. Not PHA, just market rate housing. This is a rapidly changing area. |

When I was at Temple in the mid 2000s, there was a large and growing population of students - white, black, Hispanic, Asian, city, suburbs, rich and poor - who lived on or near campus. That population now numbers above 10,000, probably three times what it was ten years ago. And yes, there are muggings, and we know that Temple is not in the best area, but setting foot past 15th St doesn't mean you will automatically get attacked.

Being near a police station means nothing. Unless you are directly across from the front door or the parking area you might as well be 10 blocks away. If anything, Ive seen more crime really close to police stations (at least in WPhila) Its hard to see right under your nose, right? |
