I changed the title. If it becomes clear that the man was shot outside CC, I'll move this thread to the appropriate forum.

If you watch the video from channel 6 Dan Cuellar there is no doubt the shooting happened outside the victims home in the ne. The neighbor was a witness, a previous assault had just happened around the corner at xxx.

I don't think there is this big conspiracy to make the robbery look like it was committed in center city. Sheer incompetence by the media, probably a rushed assignment) is the more likely scenario. Although the fact that the victim was an extremely hard worker probably makes the story more compelling , hence the mention of working at Ruby Tuesday.

Ok I apologize for being obnoxious. I guess it's the fact that I wasn't confused for a miniute. By the time I finished reading the story it was clear to me that the shooting occured near the gentleman's home at Harrison & Dufield, witnessed by his friend who looked out his window, and that is why he was taken to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital.

Nothing makes my blood boil faster then victim wanabe's or people who search out and spread crime storys (for which Phillyblog is getting a reputation). It's like being in line at the grocery behind a senior citizen who is unbelieving and disappointed that the cashier didn't try to cheat her.

Sheer incompetence is right. In the video Jim Gardner clearly reports that the shooting occured in Center City, before cutting to Dan Cuellar live, who fails to contradict or correct Gardner.

I submitted the error using their 'report a typo' form, which itself contains a typo and a programming bug. In fact the form won't submit if you enter a url in the url field (complaining of an illegal character); you have to paste the url into the body of the message.

Interestingly, in another thread I got heat for seeming indifferent to an apparent shooting at 22nd & South. Turns out the shooting happened no where near there.

I hear what you're saying, but would you have had the same reaction if this shooting was incorrectly placed in Manayunk or West Philly? You were more upset by my misunderstanding because it incorrectly placed the incident in your neighborhood.

I was not attempting to spread crime stories, am not a victim wannabe (quite the opposite) and don't expect people to cheat me--sorry if it came off that way.

Ill move this to the appropriate forum. The article was a bit confusing, and jumping on Jilly is not cool. WTH

FWIW: In 2006 4 people were shot in the area bounded by Broad, schulykill, market and south.

Might I propose a compromise: we all take a few minutes to stop debating the moronity of varous peole and instead wish well for Mr. Baptiste and his family (and that a Duck Tour run over his assailants.)
