Default Thanksgiving Volunteers

i would like to take the kids (6 and 8) to volunteer on Thanksgiving. does anyone know of any place that needs a few kids for a few hours? i know they are young, but volunteerism should begin early. we could help set up chairs, decorate, or hand out napkins to guests.

any ideas?

I know that Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly (642 N Broad St) prepares meals and gift baskets for homebound poor elderly throughout the city and is always looking for people/families to help deliver them on the holiday or assemble them a day or two before. It's a great volunteer opportunity if you want to show them on a very personal level what a difference volunteering can make. LBFE can be reached at (215) 765-8118 or http://philadelphia.littlebrothers.org

Default Awesome

Auntie, I commend you for teaching the kids the lesson you are. I think thats an awesome idea and a teriffic thing you are doing!

I spent most of my childhood growing up in the Abbotsford projects and then 29th and Alleghney ave

VT thats also a great suggestion and that carries a ton of meaning.

I think too often we forget our elderly and this simple act of kindness carries more meaning to those folks than they would be capable of expressing.
