Default ST. Helena's

JCGTO-I graduted St. Helena's in 1976 also. I remember Theckla, Stella Mercedes and Rita Eileen. I also remember Mr. Cunningham and Mr. Lorenzo-how funny we remember. I used to go to Curves with Miss Halpin-remember her? I think she was 4th grade? There was nothing better than a hot chocolate chip cookie before school every morning.
I have been to a couple of Conklins shows and they are hysterical. He does alot of St. Helena's and Olney references.

I lived on Roselyn st at Front.

Default Curves

I don't remember Curves( What is Curves?) or Miss Halpin(sounds a little familiar) I may have been in Lowell School that year. I knew alot of people in your area and I worked at Angelos Cold Cuts at Mascher and Champlost. I haven't seen J Conklin in a few years but he did call me from WMMR a few years ago and pretended to be Sister Theckla and told me I was going to have to stay after school. JC

Cunningham and Lorenzo were both from Dougherty. Cunningham taught Geometry and Lorenzo English. Every so often Lorenzo would show up with his own demon look -- the whites of his eyes were solid red!!

Default Cunningham

I don't think the Mr. cunningham I knew taught at CD. I knew him to be the grounds keeper and he lived right across from St. Helena's schoolyard on Lawrence st next to Finks bakery and one of his sons was in my grade. Nice people.

I can still see Stella's face in my nightmares!

Big brain fart on my part!! Now that you mention it I also remember a Mr. Lorenzo who worked in maintenance, the poor guy had to empty those large barrels every day.

Yes Stella did have an unforgettable face!! Depending on how you look at it - I was fortunate to have her in what was her final teaching year (1975-76.)

Nativephl, Do you remember the old guy Matt I think, who worked in some capacity at Cardinal Dougherty and drove a big( I think green buick) and he could be found at Jack's bar or 2nd Street Pub on any given night in the late seventies-early eighties?

Default Mr. cunningham

Yes, I think that was Matt's last name.
Mr.cunningham was the sexton.
Was Mr. Lorenz there for a long time? I'm having trouble picturing him.
