it'll be strange not seeing it there.
first the freight trax by 2nd & ashdale(that was some years ago) & now the train station. used to hang @ both places alot.
i guess septa thought they make more $ with more space to park. that's a bummer that was a great station.

What, did you think I was making this up?

I travel by the station every day on my way home from work. I had been on vacation one week and then when I went back, it was gone. Never saw any demolition permits posted...might I have missed them or did SEPTA pull a fast one in the night?

I loved that station...we used to sit there on summer nights watching the trains go by and smoking our cigarettes! Cutting across the tracks to B&O to hang out.

Default Train station

In the 8o's I lived on the 100 block of w tabor rd just a couple of houses up from Glace bros. and one day the neighbor across the street on the tracks side told me a story of how his house was allegedly the first train station . I was skeptical until he took me down his basement and showed me an original building foundation with small windows(no longer accessible) which his house was built around and in the basement I saw a massive cement loading platform. He also showed me a steer head that was dug out of the middle of tabor rd during the street excavation.

How cool is that, is that the first house after the bridge?

There were 3 stations to serve Olney, first built in 1875, the second was a move from the first location and was built in 1894 which was located near Frankford Junction (the Branch that served Sears) and then the final station we speak of was built in 1906 after the 2nd station (the one you're probably speaking of) was deemed too small for the numbers using the station.

Default Creeks

Yes there was number of houses built over creeks. My grandfather told me his house at 2nd and grange was built over one and when it rained you could see the water pushing up thru the basement floor and I worked at Moskats auto parts in the late 80's and the old timers told me that the sinking houses in Logan were built on a swamp filled in with cinder and they used to take a row boat out there as kids.
