Default any place to go with dogs?

This would be the first time we go to the shore, is there any beach that lets you in with dogs?

Last summer we were visiting my brother in CT, wen't to some beach, but dogs weren't allowed. Is it the same in NJ?

Yes. I believe Higsby's Beach in Cape May allows dogs. It's also a gay spot, and you can often find nude beachgoers. Just so ya know.

There is a dog friendly beach on the north end of the Atlantic city strip by the lighthouse

Sunset Beach (the very southern tip of NJ) in Cape May Point is also dog-friendly. There are no lifeguards though (but there is a little snack shack for lunch!)

We've spent the day at Island Beach State Park with our dog before. They're not allowed everywhere, and they're supposed to be on a leash at all times, but the park is pretty sizable so it's easy to find somewhere to play without disturbing anyone else.

I believe Brigantine, NJ also has a dog beach at the end of the island. But if you're willing to venture to Delaware seashore (accessible by the Cape May ferry), I highly recommend the Delaware National Seashore between Bethany, MD and Rehoboth, DE. No lifeguards-- for miles of beautiful beach you can play ball, frisbee, kayak along the shore, and bring along your best friend.

I agree with Drala, Delaware Seashore Park is beautiful. Really great if you have a 4 wheel drive car too. Also Dewey Beach which is a couple of miles south of Rehoboth allows dogs on the beach during certain hours. I have spent many hours just sitting and watching dogs run up and down and jump the waves. One of my favorite beach pass times.

You pretty much have to be staying in Dewey though because parking is non-existent for daytrippers.

I'm from Manasquan, and this is a great spot. We always took our dogs there.

Cape Henlopen in Delaware is a gorgeous state park, and the beach at Herring Point allows dogs. watching them play is part of the fun!
