This would be the first time we go to the shore, is there any beach that lets you in with dogs?
Last summer we were visiting my brother in CT, wen't to some beach, but dogs weren't allowed. Is it the same in NJ? |

We've spent the day at Island Beach State Park with our dog before. They're not allowed everywhere, and they're supposed to be on a leash at all times, but the park is pretty sizable so it's easy to find somewhere to play without disturbing anyone else.

I believe Brigantine, NJ also has a dog beach at the end of the island. But if you're willing to venture to Delaware seashore (accessible by the Cape May ferry), I highly recommend the Delaware National Seashore between Bethany, MD and Rehoboth, DE. No lifeguards-- for miles of beautiful beach you can play ball, frisbee, kayak along the shore, and bring along your best friend.

I agree with Drala, Delaware Seashore Park is beautiful. Really great if you have a 4 wheel drive car too. Also Dewey Beach which is a couple of miles south of Rehoboth allows dogs on the beach during certain hours. I have spent many hours just sitting and watching dogs run up and down and jump the waves. One of my favorite beach pass times.
You pretty much have to be staying in Dewey though because parking is non-existent for daytrippers. |

Cape Henlopen in Delaware is a gorgeous state park, and the beach at Herring Point allows dogs. watching them play is part of the fun!
