Default Rail to the shore from Philly

Not too long ago there was talk of resurrecting the shore line from Atlantic City to Wildwood. I'm guessing this fell through? Does anyone know anything about this?

Almost impossible to justify the cost and funding of a line only used 4 months of the year.

LoL that's conventional wisdom. What was the official conclusion reached by NJ Transit? My guess is that it would have to be, as you suggest, a train that only runs certain times of the year. But then the question becomes: will people ride it?

You might get commuters working in the casinos to ride it year round.

I can take a train from CC to AC already. Takes about an hour? Then a train from AC to WW. Probably another hour. On any given Friday afternoon, driving from CC to Wildwood is at least 2 hours, often closer to 3. I think you'd find a good number of people who would use it.

Only problem is, the shore towns don't have much local public transportation, so it would be kind of hard to get around while you're on vacation.

Just out of curiosity, how much is a round trip to AC from 30th Street?

The shore is the easiest place to drive to on the face of the planet (it's like buttah, dah-lin), but I take the train to work, so I'm not adding 25 bucks to park and then fighting rush hour to Jersey just to chain smoke in front of some slots...

There is no train from AC to points south. there are tracks from camden to ocean city and Cape May. seasonal trains can work
http://www.maineeasternrailroad.com/Pages/train.html
and perhaps something along these lines woudl be preferrable to an NJT train. I also think that these trains should terminate in Camden, not Philadelphia. People can take PATCO, the RiverLine, or drive to Camden. NJT should upgrade the AC line track for shorter trip times.
