My mom figured we'd be misssing out on rights of passage, and she'd do all the leg work. She didn't drive so he'd drive us down, and promptly help us unpack, and turn around and come home to peace and quiet. If we asked my dad to take us to Alaska he would have. Every sing, solitary weekend we went somewhere both days. Fort Mifflin, places with Army tanks, Art Museum. We were allowed to each bring a friend too. He was an awesome dad, but no way would he do Wildwood. Cape May he'd do. Of course AC. Although taking the kids out over to that pier was a bit ummm foreign. Showboat used to have a bowling alley and an arcade for the kids, and the pool. So he took the grands there. ctr3, You can't blame your hubby. He sees enough madness, and mayhem all week long. Must want some quiet. I also thought or KNEW my dad was afraid of Jaws. LOL Still though he'd go in the bay at Avalon. Oh, trust me staying with just my mom was a trip. She couldn't bring her firearm across state lines so she'd get a clothesline, and then tie it to the front door knob of our room. Then we had to take out all the bureau drawers, and pile them in front of the door. The rope got attached to her foot so if someone tried to brake in she'd wake up. Ya know it's like wife of a cop. Ya never know who has a key to that room, and saw the cute little teenager girl go in. We drew the line the time we got a place with alot of windows. That woman knew how to boobytrap windows like she was the CIA. Every kid though should be able to have at least a few days in the Wildwoods. Nothing like it in the world. Oh, I hope Firewire your colon is doing better. Bless you son with your ripped body, and strict diet. You get points for your dedication. |

Better is the question who is selling the "Stars&Bars" T-shirts, and magnets? Alot of those owners or renters in those crappy, "I just got to go in" shops on the boardwalk are owned by Middle Easterns. When I was in VA Beach the last two years I was surprised they didn't have much Confederate flag pins, clothing etc. Remember It's heritage not hate". Just not our heritage in New Jersey. |

Final Question........................Is Cosey still down there? I also like Owens. But the Anglesea is for me
It was sad to see Donovans Reef bulldozed considering it was 97 steps from our door. Awwwww the memories |

Lmao please I'll pass on Cosey. I can wait for the Thanksgiving day parade to see him. I do remember going into the Red Garter with my parents when I was all about 6 or 7. And what was the other real old place that was down there? I think it began with Inn something or other?

A friend took me to that flea market that is over on the way to Mt. Laurel... what's the name of that place?
There was plenty of dixie flags, civil war chess sets and other odd memorabilia to be found there. Definately for the "GIT-R-DONE" crowd. And no shortage of plastic Jesus night lights, either. FWIW, down south you can find pickups driven by mostly rural AAs with dixie stickers on it. To some folk, it's more of a "Bubba" flag than anything else. Quote:
