Talking Ocean City, NJ - any specific recs?

Loved the Wildwood vs. Ocean City, NJ thread, but I'm wondering if anyone has specific recommendations for places to go or avoid in OC or Somers Point. I'm going with a group of 4 adults and 4 kids (ranging in age from 11 months to 11 years). Thanks in advance!

Default Places to go to OC

Check out the weekly guide that OCNJ publishes each week to advertise special events - many are geared to the kids. Depending upon the ages of the kids, it's generally best to hit the rides around 5-6 pm to avoid lines. Most, if not all the rides in OC are geared to the younger kids - ages 3-12.
The Chatterbox on 9th street is a fun place to eat, I like Mack and Manco's pizza, there's an Italian place on 8 or 9th that is very good as you can tell by the lines to get into it - can't remember the name. I have found many small corner stores that prepare sandwiches to be fairly good. The Shell Museum is an interesting stop for the kids and the OC Historical Museum is interesting for the adults but not the kids. Go visit Lucy the elephant in Longport and the Cape May Zoo - I think it's a $5.00 a car load entry fee.

We'll be there in August.

For 'free' fun there's the 34th street playground. Kids love it there. Hit the 'Clam Bar' over in Somers' Point, it's byob and the food kicks butt! Mack and Manco's is good, but for some reason I'm more of a fan of
Roma Pizza, on the boardwalk near Wonderland. It probably has to do with the fact there's not a line out the door.
I believe the place on 9th is called Luigi's, I've never eaten there though. Piccini's 12th and West is good, but the wait usually sucks.

You bet kids love it there! When my kids were little, I could have left them there for 3 days, come back...and they would still be there having a ball. You should have seen what the playground looked like before it was rebuilt...can you say, "barren wasteland"?

Don't miss Mack and Manco's. Even if there's a line. Better yet, go at a strange time to get a slice.

I remember it well. My in-laws owned a place at 34th and Central and my kids played there all the time - before and after. Great b-ball games at night, Hoy's across the street and the mysterious arcade made it a great spot for families.

I love Hoy's! When we're down for the week, we always make at least one stop at the one on 34th St. for miscellaneous stuff.

If you're going to get pizza, you must get Mack N' Manco's with Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer. You may like other places, try other places...whatever...but it should be criminal to leave O.C. without having at least one slice of that gift from the heavens. Follow it up with some Kohrs Brothers too...great custard.

One of the things that I liked the most when I was a kid was waking up early in the mornings and riding my bike on the O.C. Boardwalk. I think you have to be off of the boards by 9am though.

AMonte add Johnson's caramel corn and you're singin' my song!

I also rode the boards super early, super fast, as a kid. My mom would have to come out and flag us down for breakfast.
