Default Wildwood Crest

I stayed down the shore every summer with my grandmother from when I was a small child up until I was 18. My mother and my uncle before that. My grandmother and grandfather bought the house in the 1960's and my uncle was a lifeguard for many years on the Wildwood patrol.

I worked at the Acme, from 16-18 years old. I was not a fan of the boardwalk when it was crowded in the summer. Although we did have our special treats of going to Mac's pizza and going "uptown" (thats what my grandmother used to call it). We would go uptown, and go to the 5 and 10 and have a hot dog at the counter, and right across the street was Kresgee's.

I am sad to say I have not been back in probably 7 years. I went back during my grandmothers final days. I didn't really see the city, I just wanted to visit with my grandmother. I am sure it's kept up well, and it has always catered to the younger crowd, and families as does Ocean City....It's just Ocean City is a little bit quieter.

We now go to Margate, which is alot like Wildwood Crest, a family atmosphere and close to Ocean City

No, but once in a while we would walk from our spot on the beach all the way to "the rocks" (is that the seawall?). When I was a kid it felt like miles.

I loved playing miniature golf at Duffer's and getting banana splits at Bandanas...

We used to ride waverunners on the bay and wait for the lifeguards to leave for the day so we could play on their stands. We were often the last people off the beach.

Ok, I'll stop here an just say there's plenty to keep families busy. we always had a great time...

My parents were over that way last weekend and saw the sign condemning the facility. They did say that that it looked like there were workers there fixing up the place.

I also heard from a family friend, who lives in Wildwood, that it was NOT going to be reopened. I HOPE this is not true.
