I can buy vitamins and a sauna for less than $15,000. Come on down to the Liberty Bell on Saturday and smoke a joint with the NJ Weedman.

Thank you Cannabis, for that enlightening display.

Inova

I was serious. I support weedman on this issue. I'm sure it's the only one.

Zogby,

I'm sorry to hear that.

Well, I gues this would be a good point to post the part of the boolet that covers Marijuana...

6. Marijuana Damages the Lungs, Nerves and Brain

There are 400 chemicals in marijuana smoke, 60 of these have been proven to cause cancer. These chemicals stay in the body for years. Marijuana contains THC, a “neurotoxin” (a poison affecting the brain and nerves.)

When someone smokes pot, it makes two things happen: 1) there is an immediate burn-up of vitamins and minerals in the body. 2) The nerves in the body go numb.

Each time someone gets “high”, they don’t feel quite as good, and each time they feel a little worse afterwards.

Eventually, pot smokers don’t want the drug… they NEED the drug to relieve the unwanted conditions the drugs created in their bodies. Their bodies can’t take in enough vitamins to make up for what the drug destroys.

Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop offered his summation of the quack medical nonsense which Scientology sells:

Question. Have you heard about a new book called "Diet For a Poisoned Planet," which claims that nearly 100 foods are unsafe to eat because they contain dangerous levels of pesticides?

Answer. "Yes, I read that book. I was amazed any publisher would publish such trash. And that's the best word I can think of. There is really nothing scientific about it. It is a hodge podge of misinformation added to selective bits of old information to prove a thesis that's unprovable. The premise of the entire book is flawed..."

Question. What about the author's detoxification advice? He credits L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology with some of the theories he recommends.

Answer. "My recommendation about detoxification is to keep away from it. You don't need it. I'm not sure it does what this book describes. It's dangerous. I don't think L. Ron Hubbard has credibility in the scientific world. The author's suggestions about detoxification can be detrimental to your health. " - C. Everett Koop, M.D.

watch a tv ad for a prescription drug if you want to hear about bad side effects. it's legal for me to buy a bottle of pills to halt my *receding hairline even though i may experience dizziness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and anal leakage but cannabis can't spark one up in his own home because it's bad for his lungs?

*an anecdotal reference, the author is not losing his hair

Chris Owens,
I've liked man of the things you have said but:
1) if all those things are true, it does not mean that it shoudl be illegal. alcohol is damaging to the body and legal. fatty foods too. hell, people make the decision to starve themselves to stay thin...nto healthy but perfectly legal.
2) it is obvious you've never puffed a doobie in your life.
Legalize it. Take drugs off the street and into law-abiding stores. competition will remove the profit and legality will remove the criminal nature of selling it. Prohibition for drugs works no better than prohibition for alcohol did.

Innova

I did a 30 page paper in college on medical marijuana. I know all the effects and side effects. I don't smoke anymore by choice. Of all the drugs out there, I think it is the least destructive, if at all. It is not physically adictive. When I did smoke, I had to stop on several occations for different reasons. Each time I had no trouble stopping. NONE. No craving, No need. Nothing. I've since quit smoking cigs and that was sooooooooo hard. Studies that compard weed to tobacco assume you smoke the same quantity. Smoke is bad for your lungs. I'm not going to argue that, but marijuan is not worse than tobacco, plus it is less addictive. It should be legal.

Jesse Ventura broadcast an excellent show on the subject and can be viewed in realplayer here: Jesse Ventura's America

He really understands the issue and throws the US Drug Czar Spokesman Tom Riley on the ropes. Must see!
