Please. I'm no GOP apparachik. As I've said before, I'm just a utility player for the Republicans, not on the starting roster.

As for the budget, I'd cut a helluva lot more and then lower federal taxes enough that state and municipal taxes could be raised to take care of things that are better handled locally. If people in Iowa want to subsidize farmers, go right ahead, but why should my tax dollars get planted in Iowa cornfields? By the same token, why should their tax dollars go to SEPTA?

Anyway, everyone knows this budget has no shot of passing in its current form. It's just the opening salvo of a contentious budget war. Even a dimwit like George Bush knows that.
