Default Why Bobby Jindal Should not be VP.

http://www.city-journal.org/2008/eon0522ng.html
Quote:
In Arizona this weekend, Republican presidential nominee John McCain will entertain three politicians—Florida governor Charlie Crist, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, and Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal—reportedly to consider each as a running mate. If McCain makes an offer to Jindal, it will probably be difficult to resist. But if McCain wants to help Louisiana recover from Hurricane Katrina, he’ll leave its new governor where he is. Jindal’s state needs him more than the nation does.

Bobby Jindal is a rising star, no two ways about that, but he's still, what, 38 years old? He's got all of five months running a state and he'd be a big question mark on the ticket as far as his experience goes. That's especially going to be a problem because Insane McCain SHOULD be running on his wealth of experience.
Let Bobby J get his feet wet, make his bones and tap him for POTUS in 2016 assuming he lives up to his reputation and gets LA cleaned up.
A hat tip to the Romulan and his supporters would be a good first step in shoring up the C wing of the R party and his economic and business experience would be a huge plus to the ticket. I'd vote for him alone to see how he could bring more efficency to the quagmire known as our Federal Bureaucracy.

Heightening the speculation, Jindal, along with Governor Charlie Crist of Florida and former rival Mitt Romney (Mike Huckabee was also invited, but he turned down the invitation because he already had plans to go on a cruise with his wife that day), met with Sen. McCain on Friday, May 23, 2008 at his home in Arizona, according to a Republican familiar with the decision.[25] The meeting, however, may actually serve a different purpose, presenting Jindal with the opportunity to speak at the 2008 Republican National Convention, in a similar fashion to Barack Obama at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, cementing a place for him in the party and opening the gate for a future run for the presidency

Bobby Jindal 2012....

Yeah, the world WOULD end then...

Romney still has a gazillion negatives. He only became the conservative's darling near the end. Romney will not be the pick.

Default Tim Pawlenty

I understand Tim Pawlenty had a wedding to attend and wasn't able to accept his invite. The MN Gov. would be a strong C pick.

Default Obama, Clinton, McCain Join Forces To Form Nightmare Ticket

Quote:
WASHINGTON—Presidential hopefuls John McCain (R-AZ), Barack Obama (D-IL), and Hillary Clinton (D-NY) announced Monday their plans to form what many Beltway observers have already dubbed the "2008 Nightmare Ticket," a calculated move that political analysts say offers voters the worst of both worlds.
After nearly a year of verbal attacks and negative campaign ads, the nominees announced that, for the good of the country, they were willing to push their differences to the forefront and grant the American people the ticket they've been dreading all along.
"No other ticket is capable of rallying this nation around a clearer, more unified message of chaos and hopelessness," the candidates said in unison from three separate podiums, each adorned with its own American flag arrangement and personal message. "Together, we will lead this nation into the future—a future where absolute deadlock over even the most minute decisions and total inefficiency on matters of the war, the economy, and the environment will launch a bold new age of confusion and social decay. For America, the only choice is [indecipherable]!"
The candidates said they had not yet decided who would fill the offices of president, vice president, and a new post the nominees are calling "the middle president." They did, however, confirm that each would choose his or her own full cabinet, would be able to veto any bills the others sign into law, and would reserve the right to cast the tie-breaking, tie-making, and tie-rebreaking votes in the Senate.

Breaking news.

It would be quite interesting to throw yet another monkey wrench into the racial/gender upheaval being churned this election. If Obama picks Clinton for VP (and I really hope he doesn't, but that's another discussion) then you'd have a black dude and a woman on 1 ticket and an Indian-American on the other ticket.

On the other hand, and I hate to say it, just as some people will never in a million years vote for a black man, those same people would probably never vote a dark-skinned Indian-American either. Racism in its ugliest, nakedest form was a somewhat significant factor when he lost the LA gubernatorial race the first time around. Some racists who are planning to hold their nose and vote for McCain as better (i.e. whiter) than Obama, might decide to sit it out entirely if McCain has a nonwhite veep.

Maybe McCain should pick David Duke. That'll really sew up the racist vote .

I'm a democrat, but I still like and respect Bobby Jindal. And I think Louisiana needs him right now. If he can bring the state back, then he'd be primed to be the new saviour of the Republican party, I think -- not that I want them to win, but it's true -- I say let him stay there and prove himself on his home turf. That state needs a good governor right now. Had he been in office during Katrina I actually think the Bush administration might have cared, if only out of party obligation. Blanco just got overwhelmed in impossible situation . . . . I fear who would replace Bobby if he left. Louisiana has not made good choices in the past. Reformers only last a single term and then get replaced with the same old corruption (this is what I secretly fear for Nutter in Philly because I see a lot of parallels, having lived in both places, but I'm hoping for the best).

If you think highly of him and he becomes the face of a new republican party, wouldn't you then want the party to succeed if it is people like him that are getting elected?

Parties tend to follow who gets elected and if a bunch of good government reformers like jindal start making their way to the forefront of the party, Republicans succeeding isn't necessarily a bad thing then, right?

But in regards to everything else, I agree with you. It is best to have him stay there in a state that needs some good leadership. If he is as promising as people say he is, it would be the best thing for Louisiana and the Republicans.
