(CNN) -- Saudi security forces killed a top al Qaeda leader in the kingdom shortly after the decapitated body of American hostage Paul Johnson Jr. was left in a remote area of Riyadh, security sources said.
Quote:
Al-Muqrin had threatened Tuesday to kill Johnson in 72 hours unless the Saudi government released al Qaeda prisoners and Westerners left the Arabian Peninsula.

"As we promised, we the mujahedeen from the Falluja Squadron slaughtered the American hostage Paul Johnson after the deadline we gave to the Saudi tyrants," said a statement on the Web site that has been translated from the Arabic.

"So he got his fair share from this life and for him to taste a bit of what the Muslims have been suffering from Apache helicopter attacks. They were tortured by its missiles."

I'm assuming you mean the part of Johnston being an support engineer for the Apache.

I mentioned it in another thread on Johnson's death.

No one should die the way he did - and the bunch who did it are really awful. But, I do get tired of everyone making Johnston into some sort of a saint.

He was a high paid mercenary who worked on one of the most hated machines in the Arab world. It is not as if he was a nurse working for a relief organization in Falujah or Kabul.

how funny is it that within a half hour they found and killed the #1 al queda guy in saudi arabia, but they looked for 3 days and never found anything. I think they knew exactly where this guy was and knew that this as too far and that the US was going to be really PO'ed if the saudi's didn't make major moves, I just find it shocking that they found this bad guy in a half hour, but never could find him in the years he was in saudi arabia.

I believe he had just arrived there six months ago . . . but you're right, they pretty much ignored him since his arrival.

And, did anyone else notice that they killed all of them. I assume they did not want any interogation and certainly didn't want to turn them over to the U.S. for questioning. They did the same thing after the apartment buildings full of Americans was blown up.

My condolences to the Johnson family on their tragic loss.

This sad topic is also being discussed on another thread:
