That was also pre-9/11.

Oh my god, please, please, please get the name Gore out of your heads. The only thing worse than nominating Gore would be to nominate Kerry. If Republicans are smart enough to nominate McCain, the most Dems can hope for is a cabinet post in the McCain administration. Then again, 2008 is a long ways off.

McCain/Biden ticket. Republican Senate and Democratic Congres......please please please!!!

Would be revolutionary in that it would shut up the jack offs at both extremes and get the country headed back toward a manageable level of productive debate and forward progress.

I will not settle for that outcome!

Hopefully, both sides will want to win so bad in 2008 that at least one of them will be able to nominate a sensible moderate. McCain is probably the most likely moderate coming out of the Republican primary. What about the Dems? Biden is way too goofy to get nominated. I like the guy, but he doesn't know when to shut up. Warner is probably a better bet for Dems.

If McCain runs, I'm voting Republican. No doubt about it. It's like SPAM. Comfort food, even if it tastes funny.

Keep pushing the Gore angle and you'll have to.

You mean a Rep Senate and Dem House (Congress is both houses)?

I wish we could return to the 70s/80s style Dem legislature+Republican president & cabinet. Life seemed so much more manageable and certain then.

If it's McCain vs. Hillary (easier said than done), my prediction is that about 30-35% of the hardcore liberals will vote for Hillary, 10% of the hardcore conservatives either won't vote or will vote for a 3rd party candidate and 55% of the sensible electorate will vote for McCain. Of course, you never know what might happen, but that's how I see it. Throw in a McCain/Rudy ticket (not likely) and the Dems chances are even slimer.

Yea..I always do that. Probably because you call Senators "Senator" and representatives "Congressman".

Are you kidding or were you just too young then? Gas crisis, hostage crisis, imminent thermal global nuclear war, plane hijackings to Cuba every other week, Iran/Contra, Great Malaise, AIDS, Black Monday, race riots, crack....
