Question How to keep dogs off?

Okay

So my neighbor has a problem. There is a small patch of landscaped area - basically some small bushes and wood chips - say 3 feet in width and about 15 feet in length the runs between his driveway and the sidewalk. This has become the official dog crap zone. It is unbelievable the amount. I'm actually quite amuzed by the situation. However, it has become a problem. We are trying to come up with solution. The solutions that have been proposed are

1) pave the whole thing
2) put up a small 2 foot fence and more bushes (I suggested those with thorns)
3) There is a product called dog off ??

It actually wouldn't be a problem if people just curbed thier dog, but since they have decided that wood chips is grass and is fair game. The other problem is the dogs sometime miss and hit the sidewalk, which also is left.

So, do you have any ideas to solving this funny issue? Is there any rules to putting up small fences around curb cut trees?

Is this what it comes to, poop? Ya know, people should be responsible and clean up after their dogs. It common courteously and it’s the law. You would want this to happen to you, so why do it to others.

Respect

I hear ya Pug, but that is not solving the problem. I see dog crap on the sidewalks of Roxborough and Manayunk all the time. I need solutions not sympathy (ha ha ha)

I would suggest a small decorative fence. But I also agree that one of the things to consider when debating whether or not t get a dog should be are you respnsible enough to pick up their poop. My dogs poop only gets left when she goes in the woods (like back by my parents home up in NEPA)

Whenever somebody post a problem such as this, there is always someone who replies with this solution: survailence camera. If you have the means, they are not that expensive (less than $50), and can be connected to a PC and pointed out a window. Once you get proof of who the culprit is (and it may be more than one person/dog), you scoop up the poop and drop it on their front door step. (or you can be more diplomatic and politely ask them to stop; I prefer the former).

Down in the Yunk, I have been seeing more and more people around the neighborhood walking dogs. I always look at them to see if they have a plastic bag in their hands - sure enough most of them do. If I ever see someone allowing their dog to poop on the side of the road, I will call them out and ask them to clean it up. It is a matter of respect.

Install a beautiful bowl of Prestone or a chocolate statue. (kidding...of course)

Actually here's a bunch from Petsmart. I also know of a high pitched noise generator but is has a big range and can cause neighbor issues.

A thorny bush should do the trick!!

One of the people up the street from me put a sign up saying something like "Chemicals sprayed here, aka pick up your dog ****!!" It's quite amusing, but I don't think it works at all.

The bush is a great idea. Maybe a rose bush right in front. Pretty and it will keep the dogs away. And less expensive than a surveillance camera!

What does the dog do, before the dog, doos.

Try a daily dose of cayanne pepper.
It must be daily.
The dogs will learn they don't like it there.
