Default Pinball Parlour at Ridge and Manayunk.

Hmm.

More research for a video game book I'm eventually going to write.

Sometime around 1970 there was a little pinball place at the corner of Ridge and Manayunk aves.
Anybody remember what it was called or any other info about it?

And the store down at Rochelle and Sumac always had a pinball machine in it too.

Was there any place else besides Hi-Spot that also had pinball machines?

Thanks
Mark

The store at the bottom of sumac at rochelle was Moyer's deli.

The Roxy Theater at Ridge and Leverington Aves. (where DnD is now) was turned into an indoors skate board park in the late 70's. There where many pinball and arcade games there.

Wow, I wish that was still there -- it might give the kids wandering the streets up here something to do for a change.

The old theater looked like the Tower Theater but with no balcony.

late 70's just into the early 80's. The Roxy was demolished in 1982, before that is was closed for a few years because it caught fire.

Wow. Some of it is coming back. Hey, wasn't there a guy that had a little store a house or two up rochelle ave. from Moyers?
Where he sold lots of collectible stuff? I remember going through bags and bags of postage stamps for hours on end and then only buying like a quarters worth.
And then eventually he wouldn't let me look through them any more..

Ridge and Manayunk? You probably mean Ridge and Dawson. This used to be Tom's Dutch Market and they had a little "shed" attached to the store and there were quite a few arcade games in there. The store is still there, but has changed a hands a few times.

I remember Moyer's. It was really before my time, but I remember playing Donkey Kong there.

It was the red brick building on the corner of Ridge and Manayunk. It wasn't the big room at the back that was a furniture store. I remember that well because I took Karate lessons there in 1973. It was a small room that was a little gift shop before it was a pinball place. It didn't last too long but they had at least 5 pinball machines. Or maybe the gift shop was around the corner. Right around the corner there was the Barber my parents sent me to that was missing a finger. Thats a confidence builder huh and right next to the barber was a little pet store.
