Default A girl can dream, can't she?

Two houses are for sale on my street for nearly $400k. This is BIG news for our neighborhood, where just a mere 5 years ago, the $100k barrier was rarely broken.

Anyhow, I want prices to keep rising... Not so that I can cash out (which is what you were thinking, right?) but because I just heard my neighbor (the crazy one with the plastic bags, bike tires and poison ivy) say that if prices get much higher, she'd consider selling. Hallelujah!

Quite frankly, besides my own selfish reasons to get rid of her, I am pleased to see folks that add nothing to the community but trash and complaining move on in favor of people that will take care of their homes and add value to the neighborhood.

Keep those prices rising!!! :ok:

Depends on two things:

1. How high the price gets (and I mean REALLY high, not just the level it's at now); and
2. Who my neighbors are (and remain)

I like most of the people in my neighborhood. I would love to see the crazy neighbor move because I am tired of the garbage, the false police reports and the poison ivy and poison oak that she shares with me (I'm allergic) despite our attempts to get rid of it. I would also like to see the "8 Mile" kids go. I am tired of the vandalism and general impudence (the parents stink at being parents).

I'd be lying to say I'd never leave. But I won't leave just for a few extra dollars. There would have to be a confluence of events which involved money and neighbors.

I did consider selling recently when a house that we've always wanted a block over went up for sale. We definitely browse the classifieds from time to time.

But leave the hood permanently? It would be tough. My business is here - within walking distance - and is doing really well. I am a member of several local organizations. And hubby's family is from here - his mom grew up on Terrace Street and a lot of folks knew him and his sister (who had a "chain" of local bakeries). So, there's a lot of connection.

That said, nothing is impossible.

Greed. And when a local asks to have their house rezoned for multi-residential, they are turned down.

And when middle class folks leave the city because they can not afford to rent or buy, they are called names.

Rising values places everyone at the mercy of the Board of Revision
of Taxes ........ you will pay more, possibly to make up for pension
shortfalls/ If you do not sell and move, you will have less disposable
income. Whether or not the bubble remains intact until you do sell
is unknown.
