Hi Everyone, I'm new to the neighborhood and cannot find a good takeout beer place. Looking for belgians and other specialty beers...

Anything in the neighborhood or do i have to go to the city?
Thanks!

I don't know about takeout if by that you mean one six-pack at a time, but there's a good beer store out at the Andorra Shopping Center that has microbrews and imports.

Last time I was there, the beer distrib. on green lane (right off ridge) had Hoegaarden and other belgian beers at relatively fair prices. They have a decent selection, but it's all cases. As for 6-packs, you'll probably overpay... you might be able to get them at a bar like the Dawson.

thanks for the help, and by take-out, I mean singles and mix and match sixpacks or solid sixpacks or even 12 packs.
A case is too heavy for a long walk.

Well, the Ridgeway restaurant by the Rite Aid at Roxborough & Ridge has a few imports for take-out, if that helps.

The Flat Rock Saloon, right on Main, has a great selection, and I *believe* they offer take out -- most likely not at the 'mix & match' level, but I'm pretty sure they do six packs. If you're ever in center city, the best place I've found is the Foodery Deli @ 10th & Pine.

Happy quaffing...

1) Dawson's (Dawson & Cresson) bu tkinda pricey
2) Old Eagle on terrace
3) Distrib on green lane off ridge is decent for cases (not great)
4) Foodery is the best takeout beer store I've seen in the city. Out here in Manrox we are limited to bars.
5) If you don't mind the drive, the beer yard in wayne has the best beer selection in the area for distributors
6) slightly closer but still pretty good is stone's beverage on 17th and fairmount
also, be sure to check out beeradvocate.com

Go to Monk's Tavern around 15th & Pine good selection of beer. They have belgians. I would be surprised if you found good belgian beer in Manayunk.

i drink it....and no one stocks their shelves. aside from the back and forth between yuppies and old timers, they drink the same beer. Worlwide beverage is as good as it gets.
For bars, there are three with a good slection of belgians:
1) Flat Rock Saloon (Roxborough and Main)
2) Dawson's (Cresson and Dawson)
3) Old Eagle-Terrace, 1 block east of shurs lane.
At the very least yard's makes a saison (although i'm hooked on their pale). mostly you'll find regional takes on belgians but it's better than lager. a great pub worth the trip to mt. airy is mcmenamin's.
