Hi Everyone, I'm new to the neighborhood and cannot find a good takeout beer place. Looking for belgians and other specialty beers...
Anything in the neighborhood or do i have to go to the city? Thanks! |

I don't know about takeout if by that you mean one six-pack at a time, but there's a good beer store out at the Andorra Shopping Center that has microbrews and imports. |

Last time I was there, the beer distrib. on green lane (right off ridge) had Hoegaarden and other belgian beers at relatively fair prices. They have a decent selection, but it's all cases. As for 6-packs, you'll probably overpay... you might be able to get them at a bar like the Dawson.

2) Old Eagle on terrace 3) Distrib on green lane off ridge is decent for cases (not great) 4) Foodery is the best takeout beer store I've seen in the city. Out here in Manrox we are limited to bars. 5) If you don't mind the drive, the beer yard in wayne has the best beer selection in the area for distributors 6) slightly closer but still pretty good is stone's beverage on 17th and fairmount also, be sure to check out beeradvocate.com

For bars, there are three with a good slection of belgians: 1) Flat Rock Saloon (Roxborough and Main) 2) Dawson's (Cresson and Dawson) 3) Old Eagle-Terrace, 1 block east of shurs lane. At the very least yard's makes a saison (although i'm hooked on their pale). mostly you'll find regional takes on belgians but it's better than lager. a great pub worth the trip to mt. airy is mcmenamin's.
