The project got way out of hand. They were proposing covering the area of the island from Cotton to Lock St. with parking and then putting a "green" roof over it and calling it a "park". They were going to squeeze the rec. center to less space but proposed an indoor swimming pool. No money but big plans.
The grant for the master plan was expanded for three months so they could get back to planet earth. We're waiting for the next meeting. It's likely the rec center will be closed for close to three years. |

I have to say that these inconsistencies are indeed puzzling.
I was told by a business person in the area that the rec center was being completely eliminated. This was at the end of May. Then, Prof Dave says that wasn't the case. Now it appears that it is the case. Makes you wonder if it wasn't the plan all along, and has been somehow disguised until now... |
