Thumbs up Consolo's Bakery

I remember going there on a Sunday morning with my family to pick up rolls & Italian bread. Then we'd head on down to S. Philly to visit my Grandmother. She'd send my cousins to the deli to pick up lunchmeat & fresh rye bread. When they got back to the house, we'd feast. It's one of the tastiest memories I have!

Exclamation Septa

My wife and I just moved into roxborough from Germantown. One of my main concerns was NOT buying a house on a street used by septa. Some people could care less.

I live off of Lawnton so you can hear the busses from ridge ave but it's not nearly as deafening as when I lived on Wissahickon avenue. Nothing kills a quiet spring or summer evening better than the sound of a septa bus 6ft away from your open front window, and following that; don't buy next to a bus stop unless you like strangers standing next to your door and daily clean up of cigarrette butts and candy wrappers from your sidewalk.

I'm not against public transportation, just living next to it.

Not to mention rude and dangerous SEPTA drivers massively exceeding the speed limit (I've been on bus when they've been going 55 mph in a 25 mph zone on Henry Avenue) & flagrantly violating traffic laws going through red lights (as I've watched them do at Midvale Avenue and Warden Drive/Conrad traffic light).

tell me about it; i grew up on this block and it certainly has not been the same the past several years. from my end of the block, it seems as if much of the police activity stems from whatever is going on at 617.

mam and cgmom,
This thread is a "sticky" so many people will not see it. You should start a new thread about this situation in the Rox/Man/EF forum.
