Hey everyone...
I am looking to move back to the philly area in a week or so...and would prefer to find a nice place in Manayunk. What are some ideas of lofts and other buildings that would be good to consider? i am only one person, but do not mind spending the money to get a nice place. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

according to some reviews on apartmentratings.com this place doesnt look so promising. But the pictures look cool.
however, it was only 4 reviews - and might misrepresent the true situation of the complex... what is the parking situation? is there ALWAYS an open spot in the lot? also, do you know anything about the heating/ac situation? one of the reviews said that you couldnt get it warm enough in the winter, and that you couldnt get it cold enough in summer...thus poor insulation...do you think that is the case or just one bad review?? thanks for the response |

I lived there almost three years and maybe four times the parking was an issue. The security guy ( which is another bonus) will open up the garage and let you park in there if there are no spots. It is almost amazing that the parking is free and with all those people it is hardly ever an issue.
As far as the utilities, they are not outrageous. We never had a bill over $150 for heat/ac in the prime months. Eight months of the year we didn't even use the thermostat I'd say. I don't know if the heat comes from other apartments or they are just insulated really well but we were always comfortable temperature wise. The huge windows and tall ceilings would make you think the utilities were high but not in our case. I know it may sound like I work for this place but I really liked living at Chimney Hill and was sad to move. The place was great, so unique, and the maintenance guys, staff, and other things were great. The trash chutes, parking for free, location, washer/dryer/dishwasher in every apartment, it can't be beat for the price. Good luck. |

about the bad review. Maybe the people that couldn't get it warm/cold enough just had a failing system. I could see the company being reluctant to overhaul or replace since these are fairly new conversions but maybe they just had a bad experience or are really strange when it comes to comfort level.
