blueroses, I love love Abita beer. My girlfriend is addicted to Purple Haze so I get her a case of that and a sampler case for me. They give you six different kinds of beers in it (4 of each). I can usually find it at the beer distributor right off of Ridge Ave by the Subway in Roxborough. Right around the corner from like Roma's and Lennie's.

Agreed, Brewer's Outlet may have best selection in area especially for hard to find European beers (and i mean Lambics etc, not Kronenberg and St Pauli Girl). But I bought a case of Czechvar recently, which is sold as Budvar or Budweiser everywhere but in the US where it is re-named because of AB's Bud. Anyway, after getting it home and serving, I found it was one month past expiration when I bought it. Some of the hard to find ones don't exactly turn fast so it was a lesson learned.
Still Doc's has always been a good place for interesting stuff. Also if in the lower Northeast, check out Niccoletti's on State Road. PS - Budvar, or Czechvar was suggested as the worlds most perfect beer by none other than the late Michael Jackson. Much better on draft in a Prague pub, but still good in bottles.h |

I've always received great service at Doc's in Andorra. And twice, when they didn't have what I was looking for, they offered to have it there the next day for me.
Now, I have encountered the lottery players that hold up the line forever in there! I know now when I see them, I don't even bother waiting in line. Matthew's staff is ALWAYS friendly! And they have a decent selection. No lottery there. |
