Does anyone know what is going on with the Basketball Court on the corner of Terrace and Fleming? There were some guys cutting all the trees down and the basketball hoops are hanging off?

The WNCA is trying to get the city to clean up the area. Perhaps this is part of that effort.

Of course there was also talk about turning that area into parking, so I'm not sure if this may be a result of that instead.

Could you mean the bball court on Terrace between Monastery and Grape?? They cut the trees down around it late last week and broke one of the nets.

I live there and we just got a notice that they will be demolishing that area (in addition to the old VFW on the corner of Terrace and Grape). I heard they are building 3-story condos there. There goes my view, parking, and the ability to sleep in for the next year

I completely agree. This block of Terrace is fantastic for parking...since there is basically nothing on one side, and a few vacant houses.

The condo rumor is something I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend who works for the construction company. So I'm hoping it's not true. All we have heard so far officially is that the area will be demolished. There was a letter in our mailbox about it. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else...

When I was considering moving to a house near that corner a few months ago, I was told that the basketball courts were going to be replaced by condos.

I live close by and those bastards who cut down the trees are supposedly building 6-700,000 dollar condo-monstrosties. No word on zoning for them. Everyone who lives nearby needs to go to any zoning meetings that come up to make sure the developers dont run amuck of the communtiy.

Turns out I was confusing this BB court with a different one. This one apparently falls just outside the WNCA service area. Sorry for any confusion folks. :-)
