Default New Produce Store on Ridge?

Did I notice a new produce store opening on Ridge Ave, somewhere between Leverington and Green Ln, or am I seeing things?

Yep. Right where the old Sneaker Town used to be. Since I had to work (at least I got paid to see the parade ) I stopped int ehre to grab something for breakfast. The prices were totally reasonable!

I got 3 bananas, a pint of yummy watermelon and a bottle of water for $3. They have shelves with stuff other than produce, like cookies and foods from foreign countries.

My fiance and I went there yesterday thinking the place would have some pretty good deals on produce and we walked in and unfortunately, after browsing the prices, walked right back out. There was really no item there that I couldn't think of at a better price somewhere else, unfortunately. We ended up going to the Marketplace at East Falls. I really was hoping to shop here all the time...but $1.69 for a head of lettuce? ShopRite is cheaper.

And on a side note...watch the expiration dates at the Marketplace at East Falls. I bought expired Iced Tea that tasted horrible at the Amish stand. And we wanted to buy a bag of carrots at the produce stand, but they expired May 23rd, so we told the guy, since he had a ton of bags of them out. He said he had fresh ones in the back he'd give us instead. I asked my fiance to check the bag while I was paying to make sure....sure enough he gave us expired ones and acted kind of baffled when we said didn't you just say you had fresh ones in the back? They refunded us, but were definitely trying to pull a fast one.

Thanks for the info. I've been meaning to get over to the Marketplace but I just haven't had a chance.

Is there a way to turn into that place when you're heading down Ridge, or do you have to do a U-turn at some point?

That's a shame. I was hoping for a place that would augment my Shop Rite and Super Fresh shopping. Shop Rite is cheap, but the quality of their produce sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. It looked like it would be decent Asian produce store with cheap prices and some exotic items.

I turn left just before East Falls Fitness (sorry, don't know the street name), go to the end (Hunting Park Ave?) turn right, then right again, back on to Ridge Ave going the opposite direction. I see a lot of people turn right into the parking lot and drive right over the median, but I'm pretty sure my car would bottom-out if I tried that.

I just have to ask .... how much did you pay for a lemon? I went into sticker-shock recently when one SMALL lemon was 89 cents.

Sounds silly, I know .... but I guess the days of 3-for-a-dollar are over.

Yeah, groceries are getting crazy expensive. Do we know where they're getting their produce? Is it local or shipped in? I'll bet they have at least a few good deals compared to the chains or they wouldn't even be trying to compete. I'll have to check it out.
