Default Incident on Rochelle

Just an FYI there was an incident on the 200 block of Rochelle (Rochelle and Freeland) on Tuesday night. 2 individuals apparently felt it neccessary to jump one of our neighbors. They did have a weapon, some sort of knife. He is ok and hopefull pressing charges. I believe they caught one of the culprits.

I believe the culprits live on the 200 block of Rochelle as does the victim.

Just keep your eyes open, and dont hesitate to call 911 if you see anything out of the ordinary. We all need to keep our eyes and ears open so these losers dont make us feel unsafe in our own neighborhood!

Default RE: Incident on Rochelle

Was this a mugging or some sort of a fight? Was he selected at random, or did they have a beef with him? What time did it happen? I'd appreciate the details.

From what a neighbor told me he was coming home from band practice (sounds random) and I believe it happened around 10:30 pm.

I used to live on Sumac and I always thought that the area was one of the nicest, obscure sections in all of Philly and for what it's worth, it's some sort of a "relief" knowing that all those involved are neighbors and there is no outside element involved. I hope the victim is ok and the perps get their due and things quiet down.

I grew up on Manayunk Ave at Osborn and the worst thing that ever happened in the 70's was an egging on mischief night

Wait there was the time we got our porch furniture cushions stolen...

How could it be random if they live on the same block? That makes no sense.

When you say "some sort of knife", I was attacked with a dry wall saw which was kept up the sleeve. When the doctors saw the wounds they didn't know how they were made but I saw the teeth on the saw.

Angry Yes, there may be more to this attack.

Agreed.

While I have not yet spoken directly to anyone about this incident. And only know that it occured, I can't help but wonder if there is a bit more to this incident.

I constantly hear through the neighborhood grapevine about certain folks that live down on Rochelle who are undesirable neighbors, and always seem to cause problems. These folks have shown over and over to have no respect for themselves or the community judging from the comments I hear. I can only help to assume that these may have been the same people, and/or that there may have been something more between the attacked and the attackers. For example the attackers identifying this neighbor as someone that may have contacted police, or even one that directly confronted them in the past.

Wether or not this was a planned attack or random, its awful and I only hope the worst for the attackers and the best for the neighbor that was attacked. The fact remains that Wissahickon is a very nice corner of Philadelphia to live in and 99% of the people that live here are really good people.

The accused attacker has caused other problems on the block and folks that live on Rochelle have had issues before
