Rochelle Avenue victims ALSO lives on Rochelle Avenue himself, answers the question that many of the people involved in such things there are not very bright. They all live in the 200 block near each other. Could it be a Cousin who wed a Cousin and that loser came into this world ? My favorite part of Rochelle is at Retta where the people park on their cement lawn and you can't get by and have to walk in the street. They just sit on the porch and look.....too stupid to move one of the cars a little so you can pass. Then, next door the house with all the junk around it....the place is what Rochelle Avenue will turn into in a short time. Friends, I used to live in Frankford and a lot of it turned into a slum in less than five years. Also, there seems to be some kind of action at Rochelle Avenue and Retta Street AT TIMES late at night. No wonder some of them sleep all day, getting up in mid-afternoon. It smells like a case of Food Stamp Poisoning to me or....It could be Disbility... but, they jog so how could it be ? Listen, there are people who work at NOT WORKING . My neighbor went to a Civic Meeting at Northern Home and told me that the leaders said You Can't Park on your cement lawn or block the sidewalk. But, it happens all the time. We hear about it but, the city does not enforce that rule. They sure can write parking tickets on Ridge Avenue if you get back less than five minutes late. Here is the answer to that.....I now NEVER shop on Ridge Avenue nor will I . I got a ticket in the FREE parking lot on Dupont Street because they said I was there more than two hours. There were many spaces in the lot left empty by people you've already given iickets too. There were only nine cars in the lot when I got my ticket. I only fought one ticket down in so called Traffic Court and the place stunk so bad I could not wait to leave....and the bathooms, don't go there. What do the workers do down there ? I suggest you mail in any fees so avoid going down to the Delaware Avenue Court. It DID open my sinuses... I'll tell you that. |

Not that I remember. We did have the Schuylkill Sniper who turned out to be a friends brother
![]() People got beat up a lot down in east falls and those kids at the northern home got loose once in a while but that was it. M

The City now has a searchable crime map that shows recent incidents. You can search up to 30 days at a time. Apparently there were robberies on May 20th (doesn't say what weapon was used) on the 200 block of Rochelle and April 27 (it mentions a knife) on the 3500 block of Freeland which is near the 100 Steps. Both incidents happened between 10pm & 1am. I new there were problems with tagging around the 100 Steps, but didn't realize that there had been some more serious incidents. I'm fairly new to the area. Has there ever been an attempt to start a neighborhood watch in the neighborhood?

They knew it came from somewhere on the Wissahickon side. It took them a few days to track down someone living on Terrace St. near Salignac. He swore he was just shooting at the water tower. It was only a 22 but if he did shoot at the tower it would have gone a half mile farther. Actually the more I think the more I remember this being a big media hype thing and lots of news coverage. Hmm..

Crime in Manayunk is not new. I was looking at an insurance map of Philly from the 1920's and on it areas were outlined showing the rates. This map showed four rates. Only one area in Philly had the highest insurance rate: Manayunk.

But NOW Rox/Man has the lowest rates in the city, don't we?

I live on Rochelle Avenue and it is a lovely area. There are many professionals and young families who live here. They are good people. Housing value is good and most of the neighbors care a lot about what goes on here. Please don't disparage my neighborhood over the antics of a handful.
The issue is TWO houses. TWO. Sadly, it does affect the entire neighborhood. Police have been called to the one house 16 times in 6 months. There is a deadbeat boyfriend who beats up a young girl regularly, and no one will press charges. Young children are left home alone and regularly break curfew. And yes, an individual in our neighborhood was attacked by someone from the house - thankfully, it was someone ballsy enough to press charges and the perpetrators now sit in jail. All kinds of city agencies have been contacted. It is a sore spot amongst the neighbors that this kind of behavior continues. But it certainly not indicative of the neighborhood as a whole. I run in the hood and in the park as early as 5am by myself with no fear. I take my kids to the park. My kids ride their bikes on the sidewalk. It is a GREAT place to raise a family. Please don't let the lack of civility from a couple of families ruin the reputation of our neighborhood. |

oh please if you have to complain about walking around the car you need to get a life. And if you have so many problems with the OWNERS of these houses who have lived there for numerous years maybe you should show your face to their front door and address your corny ass problems, i'd like to see you do that
