Henry Avenue is a broad 4 lane boulevard that runs along the boundary between the Wissahickon part of Fairmount Park and most of Roxborough. North of Roxborugh, in the Andorra section of the city, Henry Ave runs heads to the center of the neighborhood, and joins Ridge Avenue. Ridge avenue runs through the Center of Andorra & Roxborough - Henry Avenue is a boulevard that bypasses the old center of the town. Henry on the Park is about a half a mile from the Andorra Shopping center, and little more than a half a mile from the shopping centers along Ridge Avenue. Transit wise, - The Route 27 Bus runs on Henry Ave, stops right in front of the apartment complex, and heads to Center City along to Broad between Vine St & Washington Ave. -About 2 blocks away is the Route 9 bus which runs on Ridge Avenue, and heads to University City & Center City from 30th Streets to Old City along Chestnut and Walnut. Yes, very safe. And Andorra has an ACME supermarket Staples, Kohls, a gym, Eckerd, Mcdonald's, a Chinese place, Moe's, a pizza/italian place, beer & liquor/wine stores, Radio Shack, a branch of the public library, a Quizno's, a car wash, a bank, and soon an Applebee's. Did I leave anything out, folks? I'd say it's a good location if you're looking for an apt. complex.

I lived at Henry on the Park for about 5 years. From 1998 to 2004. I lived in A Building.
PROS * Great management, they really care and are first class. I rarely had problems, but when I did, they were taken care of immediately. * Plenty of parking * Well kept grounds, tennis courts, workout center, putting green & outdoor pool. * Close to major highways, shopping, the city and the Burbs. CONS * I'd say 75 percent of the residents are over 65 or over Grad students. This usually means very few parties and loud music. This also means kinda crappy social atmosphere and if you want to have loud music or parties, there will be complaints. * A Building is right on Henry Ave and can get noisy. * Buildings A, B, C & D (I think) are older buildings and are showing age. I had a rare apartment. It was a 4 BR/3 BA with a LR, DR, KIT and 3 porches. (1 enclosed) Total SQ FT was about 1700. I paid about $1500 when I moved in and about $1900 upon leaving. They raised the rent about $100 every year. Myabe $300 in utils. Not sure if that is a great price or not. I moved out because I bought a house in Conshohocken, not because it was a bad place to live. PM me if you want more info. |
