About the MSSC staff recruiting people from the PSSC that never happened. Although the PSSC has done it to us especially last fall with our soccer people.
Oh, but it did happen - may have been before your time at MSSC, but it did happen, as I spoke to the girls. It was when MSSC first started - about 9 or so years ago. It was my first contact with MSSC, which left a bad taste in my mouth. I did not say it was MSSC "staff", I said they sent girls to recruit. It was about 3 or 4 young girls who walked up the lower end of the Fairmount Park fields and approached our team then proceeded on to other teams.

I completely understand why you don't have alcohol on the field. However, as someone with children, I can't hang out at a bar after the games. I appreciate being able to hang out, grill and have a beer after the game with my teammates before they head to the bar.

Our softball team is sponsored by a local bar that is NOT the Bayou, therefore we were not allowed to be a part of MSSC. This happened years before I became a part of the team and I'm sure this rule hasn't changed. It's not a big deal to us, however, because the softball fields they use, while convenient, are flat-out dangerous.
PSSC has its drawbacks as well. The fields they use are not exactly convenient to get to for someone who lives in philadelphia and does have a car (the fields in Plymouth Meeting at least are on a major bus route unlike the really nice fields we played out further west but i'm blanking on the town name). Tim doesn't take the initiative at times to make sure the fields are taken care of before people go to play on them. Some of the refs are mediocre at best.
However, from what I can tell the league is run pretty well, he takes payment when you can get it to him without being a jerk about it, the website is nice and fairly easy to get through, and the t-shirts are always nice and delivered on time. I think Tim probably gets a lot of **** from people all the time who thinks a call is bad or whatever, and what choice does he have than to back up his refs? He doesn't have to be a dick about it, of course.

Competition in anything is good, but I don't think Liam should go around accusing a competitor in public...i don't know if what he says is true or not, but it's pretty slanderous not to mention it makes you, Liam, look like an immature brat.

Default Cross Marketing

Blacksheep- I totally understand the frustration about the event with the carnival and with recieving the text at that time about the Bayou/Phillies stuff. We do alot of cross marketing because many of our members we get out of the Bayou. We like our members to go back to the bar because the Bayou do in turn help us out with our advertising and getting people to join. We understand that some people are here to play sports and that is it. We are ok with that as long as everyone has a good time. The text messages thing is now only to be used by MSSC and only for MSSC events like the sports banquets or unexpected cancellations. Sports banquets may be at the Bayou but we are not advertising for the Bayou via text message. We are just sending out a reminder of what comes to you for joining our league. Our head staff has meeting at least once a week and talk about how to better cross market without going across the lines. For incidents in the past with that type of marketing I am sorry about. This is how people, businesses, and leagues grow through trial and error. People can always unlist on the emails and texts message if they want.

Default this is the funniest thread ever

it's pretty funny because i thought this whole intramural sports leagues were to have fun, but it looks like a lot of people take this way to serious. if your looking to have have fun and meet people you play in the mssc-the staff is really nice(liam is the best, i've known him since Roman Catholic) and they provide drinking and socializing at the bayou. the bayou has a really nice staff also and the best prices on main st. its really hard to find good prices down there.
pssc has more competitive leagues and is more for the serious athlete but they provide no socialization. the drinking at the fields on sat at sweet briar doesn't help u meet anyone new.
both are great just depends on what your looking for

Default My Last Post To This

I agree with the original yunker this is getting to time consuming and I am getting too heated over a simple post. If you like PSSC fine and if you like MSSC awsome. I would like to evite you all to an open house to come meet the staff of the MSSC and me in person. I would love to explain what we really are about and clear up any issues at hand. My email address is liam.wynne@usasporandsocial.com or call my cell at 267-972-7665. Food and drinks will be on me.

Thank you loyal supporters and those who have a problem with the MSSC I hope in the future I can change your mind.

With all this back and forth...the conundrum still stands...did the OP Unity007 ever get on a dodgeball team?

I agree. I've played on both the MSSC dodgeball league and the darts league, and it's a nice way to socialize and have fun. I'm really surprised some people take it so seriously, geez.

I have no experience with PSSC so I can't comment on them.

Default scooters

All I want to know is if the MSSC has a co-ed wooden scooter racing group? I miss those things from 3rd grade gym class.

These things for those who forget.

If not how about a giant parachute group?
