Default Thumpers burns down

Anyone hear what happened/what the cause was??

I heard alot of fire trucks overnight & this morning saw a neighbor who said it burned down. I drove by on my way to work, the place looks pretty gutted, all black on the inside. Felt bad, the two owners were standing out front with alot of firemen etc... Sad, I liked what they tried to do with the place.

It's called "insurance fraud".

A common practice in failing businesses in Philly.

Hopefully a few nice homes get built there now.

It's a bar/restuarant in East Falls on Cresson St, near their train station. Pretty close to Billy Murphy's. It used to be Four Horseman & Arena's before that. They reopened in the Spring & had decent food & an outdoor deck.

I had a look at it today and it didn't seem too bad...

Oh man, my wife and I love that place. Although it usually was kind of empty. It did have good food though. I hope its not gone for good.

And although there is insurance fraud in this city, it seems like a pretty heavy accusation to add to the rumor mill before the fire department reports on the cause.

Maybe a greasy hood fire, bad wiring or careless smoking?

I agree 110%.
  1. This was NOT insurance fraud. The fire marshall said it was due to electrical wiring in one of the walls.
  2. The owners are Irish!
  3. The owners ARE good people who tried to take a dive and make it something in the community. They put everything they have of themselves into it.

I was hoping to try this place out. Their burgers sounded great, and some of their drink specials seemed interesting.

Does anyone know the true extent of the damage? Do they plan to re-open or is it done?

And wow, nice one miserable_bitch. Way to send this thread down the wrong path..

Looked like they had a cleaning crew there yesterday, so maybe they will reopen.
