Default Roxborough/Manayunk/East Falls - Crime Stats, Demographics, Housing values etc.

This data was taken from the folowing UPenn official sources:
http://cml.upenn.edu/nbase/ http://cml.upenn.edu/crimebase/

The neighborhoods defined by nBase: Roxborough, Manayunk and East Falls

The data taken from nBase and crimeBase:

I included Fairmount in the analysis, for reference. Crime in center city proper is MUCH higher than Fairmount. (this can be confirmed on UPenn nBase) As you can see, Rox/Man/EF is quite safe.

Default Murder Rate?

It's my understanding that the murder rate for 2006 in our neighborhoods is zero. Does anybody know when the last murder occurred in this neck of the woods?

Crime is much higher in Center City because 500,000 people come in and out every day.

That is one of many reasons, but we all would agree with this.

How official are these nBase maps of Rox, Manayunk, and East Falls? It seems that even the local community groups differ on what the boundaries are. I've asked a few of them if my house is in their community and they've all pointed me to each other. According to nBase, my home is on the outskirts of Manayunk, but my ZIP is listed as 19128, which is a Roxborough ZIP. I'm so confused!

ITs weird. The MLS lists Manayunk as only the 19127 zip, and rox as 19128. The boundry line of 19127/19128 is Silverwood. If you ask an "origional Yunker" they will tell you that the rox/yunk line is manayunk ave. who knows for sure??

Growing up in Yunk, the residents considered it Manayunk Ave., but the post office considered it Silverwood St. b/c that's where the 2 zips met. Always confused me also.

Default The Boundary Line From A "REAL YUNKER"

The boundary line is at silverwood until green lane from there its anything below Manayunk Ave. Manayunk Ave ironically is in the 19128 zip. If you live in the Wissachikon or Andorra you are actually apart of Roxborough just on the out skirts. :bitchslap:

According to the nBase website, they are "user defined" maps. I think they need to find users that know the neighborhoods.

Real Estate Agents may want you to think you're in Manayunk, but looking at the Manayunk labeled area below, anything between Ridge and the Wissahickon Creek is Wissahickon.

Manayunk has a zip code of 19127 only. There is no debate.

Default Safety?

Its true that there are few murders in Rox, but drugs are definately a problem. So is the prevalence of young white men who really really want to be tough so badly. So as a woman, sexual harassment is high too. Teen pregnancy is out of control.

Its definately a quality of life issue. While Center City may have more crime, I definately would rather be there than here in the Borough.
