I'm sure we all have sympathy for the homeless, whatever their reasons for being on the street. Is it their choice? Does it matter? I think the fire incident has pretty much proven the point that it's dangerous for her. I doubt her living conditions are due to her being a Libertarian. She needs to be lovingly transported to safety. Last edited by identityalways : 01-25-2007 at 01:27 PM. Reason: forgot to add text |

I don't like hypocracy--and on this subject, it glows.
BTW, I do live nearby some of Project HOME's offices--they're next door to me. It's a subject that I'm really passionate about. No, I don't want to see homeless sleeping and freezing on the streets. I just find it remarkeably uncanny how we don't mind these people roaming about like free-range chickens... until we call a "Code BLUE" and round them up like cattle and coral them to the shelters. Cold days like this are about the only days where true homeless headcounts can be taken--and it's also the best time for outreach people to be able to get at a lot of these desperate folks. Why we refuse to help them and allow them to squat in the parks in the summertime is beyond me. I don't have a right to trash, sleep and sh** on public spaces--why does being homeless all-of-a-sudden give me that right? You can live primitive like that on a campground or a national forest, but why is it permissible to do it in cities? Suburbanites don't tolerate it. Watch what would happen if I put thousands of them in busses and dropped them off in Radnor Twp. Those people up there would go nuts.

I called Project HOME to have them scooped up and carted off to someplace warm. The first one has been working in front of the Greenhouse at Juniper and Chestnut for the last few weeks. The other was squatting by Liberty I. I dunno about the first one but the police carted off the second one about an hour after I called. GOD BLESS
