however, that's not the legal limit. thankfully there is some semblance of reason. it's just not practical to expect people to never have a drink in public where they cannot walk home. let's be a little realistic. having a beer per hour is pretty responsible.

Your BAC also rises for some time after you've stopped drinking. So people who cut themselves off at bars a half hour before closing time are actually drunker at 2 am than they were a half hour before.

I learned that in my TIPS class

Having a beer per hour does not mean you won't be over the legal limit. Blood alcohol levels vary from person to person and are usually higher in women than in men of the same size and weight. Bodies process it differently, and there's no way a bartender can gauge that without a breathalyzer test, and most people can't tell when they're over the limit but go by how they feel . . . it's just not that simple.

absolutely, but it does for me. of course since I rarely drive anywhere that's nto a problem for me. youa re right though, some people are perfectly funcitonal over the limit and some people are barely functional under the limit. many factors, but that's life. really it's about being responsible. .08 vs. .09 is really debatable. fact is, BAC can't really determine if you are ok to drive (within reason) either. it's just an imperfect measure choses b/c there is no better way. and at .09 you re hardly to drunk to be served.
