Although this video is short and is cut off in mid-report, it is still incredible. The legendary John Facenda doing a brief overview of the 1963 parade. Priceless!

John had a great, soothing voice. It was a family tradition to watch him report the news. Another favorite TV personality was Tom Snyder who actually hosted a local show in Philadelphia called contact and was also a news anchor back in the 1960s . Thanks chief for providing the link to the 1963 coverage of the Mummers parade ... Just that clip gives a viewer of the talent this man possessed. It took some time for the video to start playing on my computer but when I last clicked on it opened pretty quick now. Just one of many wonderful traditions of Philly past and present.
