Default Best sneakers for running?

I've been running 3 miles 3-5X/week for several months now and I think it's time for new sneakers. I'm a novice, use a treadmill and am partial to the comfort of New Balance. I've had Nikes before and find that they run too narrow. I'm also partial to paying less than $100 (and even much less than that if possible). Does anyone have any recommendations? I just need something solid...they don't need to be turbo powered or anything like that.

Thanks!

I'd suggest going to City Sports or another running store and asking the salesperson. I got new running sneaks a few months ago, and the person at the City Sports in CC was really helpful. I told her what type of running I do, what sneakers I was currently using, and that I have narrow feet, and she gave me a few selections that she thought might work for me. I ended up with a great pair of Asics, after wearing Sauconys for quite a few years.

I'm still a fan of New Balance for beating your feet against asphalt.

Plus it's made in the USA.

For you first pair of real running shoes, it's probably best to go to a specialty running store, like Philadelphia Runner at 16th and Samson. Plan on about 45 mins for the shoe fitting. They will analyze your running style and suggest a few pairs that will best suit any pronation issues you might have. I'm also a big fan of Jenkintown Running Co and Princeton Running Co. Bryn Mawr Running Co are also very excellent... (I guess running stores aren't known for their originality for naming)

I'm a little hesitant to send new runners to City Sports because I know a few people that were "fitted" there for running shoes that turned out to be completely wrong for their particular running style... The staff isn't really trained to do a proper fitting..

As of right now, I wouldn't worry about brands based on general and popular review. Find out what shoes match your running style then see which one feels the best. Personally, I find Brooks Adrenaline to be the best shoe for me.

Hope this helps!

I remember reading that New Balances were made in Boston, or close to that area.

See image above please. I think ~10% of the NB footwear lines are made in the US.

City Sports has a great selection and the staff will help you identify if you are a supinator or pronator, If you go you may want to wear your current pair of shoes to the store so the salesperson can see what areas of thread are worn out.

My current running sure is the Wave Runner 8 from Mizuno and I love the style, they are the lighest pair of running shoes that I have tried.
