Default Gastroenterologist recommendations

Does anyone have a recommendation for a GI doctor, preferably in Center City or University City?

I haven't gone yet, but I have heard good things about Dr. Loren at Jefferson.

I had my gallbladder removed by Dr. Russell at Lankenau Hospital.

He was excellent.

Do you need a GI surgeon? If you do, I recommend Jeffrey Dribben at HUP. Excellent surgeon and nice guy.

I sincerely hope I don't need a surgeon! I've been having IBS-like symptoms every so often, and once had a strange bacteria. So I need someone who is very through in testing for weird things that could be growing inside me.

Lovely, I know.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check them out.

I am having a bacterial overgrowth test this wednesday via Dr. Kastenberg at Jeff. He's a nice guy...always has me get blood work and likes to test to rule stuff out. Doesn't tend to prescribe medicine to treat my symptoms though, just says i should use immodium and stuff like that.

Default GI Doc

Hey,

I have all kinds of crazy GI conditions including: IBS, a bacterial overgrowth and a mal-rotated intestine and I have had a great experience with Dr. Patricia Kozuch at Jefferson (http://www.jefferson.edu/facint/details.cfm?key=pxk004). She is extremely thorough and professional...she really knows what she is doing!

If it is bacterial, you will most likely need to visit the motility department for testing. There is a great doctor at Jefferson for that too, the name is escaping me, but she is in the same building as Kozuch, on the same floor, but her office is to the left instead of the right off of the elevator. You have to call her personally to make an appointment, Dr. Kozuch will know who it is that I'm talking about.

GOOD LUCK! I know it can be hell!!!
