Default Boltbus(NY to DC) for 1 dollar

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2008...s_for_1-1.html

Quote:
BoltBus, Greyhound's new budget line, will offer trips from New York to Washington on vehicles that feature leather seats, power outlets, free wireless Internet access - and introductory fares as low as $1.

The BoltBus line, which begins running March 27, is Greyhound's bid to capture the college student demographic now dominated by Chinatown-based bus lines like Fung Wah and Lucky Star.

Greyhound currently charges $39 each way for New York to Washington. The Chinatown lines cost about $20.
"We basically saw a customer segment that we thought would really want a service that was inexpensive and had a ticketing system that was based online," said Greyhound spokesman Dustin Clark.

Clark said each bus would have a varying number of $1 tickets that would be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
He said the most expensive one-way fare on each bus would be $25

Ok can we get that here in Philly? Pretty please?

And since we do have chinatown buses, I'm sure if this is successful, we can get 'NY to Philly' boltbuses for 1 buck.

I believe this new service is also supposed to pickup at a streetside location as opposed to "the bus station".

Default BusZoo.com has offered $1.00 ticket in philly

Just found www.BusZoo.com has offered $1.00 to various locations(New York, DC, Philadelphia, Richmond, Baltimore and Norfolk).

It seems that the pricing war has just started. With gas price so high, it's good for all of us commuters!

I believe I read that megabus is coming to the mid-atlantic region as well with service in the nyc-phl-bal-was corridor.

Was there an official announcement for Philly service? I just saw a Boltbus in center city, and checked their website. Sure enough, service starts on April 10 (30th St. station to NYC), with $1 fares available. Their schedule may need some work though; the last buses to/from NYC are at 6/6:30PM, making it pretty worthless for day trips.
