I don't particularly care for the pork product but I was sort of joking about the political adjective used to describe struggling smaller blue collar PA towns. Usually the word is followed in a sentence or two by the phrase "Reagan Democrat" or something of the like. As in during Toomeys primary challenge to Specter if some pundit was wondering if Toomey could survive the general election they would say he has won general elections in blue collar and therefore sometimes Democrat "hardscrapple" Scranton. Sometimes it also implies an Archie Bunker kind of vibe, as in when describing the cultural background of York during the trial 20 years after the fact of those white guys who as young men shot that poor AfAm woman - then every other story refered to York as "hardscrapple". I am not overly fond of the term and hence I was trying to be clipped and snide but i realize I was being so clipped as to be a non-sequiter.
