Default Looking for info on Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy

I currently live in Northeast Philly (Torresdale), and am looking to move to either the Chestnut Hill or Mt. Airy areas. I could use some info about crime rates and apartment prices.

Thanks in advance.

Well, you can get infor from the local newspapers which are on online

Chestnut Hill Local
http://www.chestnuthilllocal.com

The Leader
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.asp?brd=1682

and you can get some crime demographics from the U-Penn Philly neighborhoods demographics database.
http://cml.upenn.edu/nbase/nbProfileIndex.asp

The Philly Inquirer web site even has special section on crime, including block by block breakdowns on crimes throughout Philly, but it's only 1991 to 1999

Rentals
Well, right now, I only see one place on the Real Estate Database:

3Bedroom 2Bath Twin at $1,400 per month

Only 5 rentals in this list for this year- range is from a low end of

a 1 Bedroom 1 Bath apartment at $895 per month to

{drumroll please}

a 6 Bedroom 4 full bath 2 powderroom estate at $3,8000 per month.

The other usual rental sources are Craig's List .com,
and the City Paper www.citypaper.net
which are listed several times on the blog- just search and I'm sure someone has posted their URLs.

Hal

Definately check the Chestnut Hill Local for rental ads. Lots of people own small amounts of property and adverstise there, not just for Chestnut Hill but also Mt. Airy, Germantown, Erdenheim, and beyond. Looks like $650-$1200.

If anyone doubted that Lady Syc exists, I present this thread as evidence.
