Obama is cute and popular but come on..... he's weak.
Barbara Boxer is one of the few with any guts. I don't know if she would want to do it but any white man is going to be really really weak. In October 2002 Boxer voted against the joint resolution passed by the U.S. Congress to authorize the use of military force by the Bush Administration against Iraq. Was she the ONLY one? If Obama wins, it is really going to be up to the citizens to get strong and run the country because Obama's popular but weak. |

What does this mean, he's weak? Our last president had the oratory skills of a monkey (and to paraphrase a birthday song) and he looked like one too. What would make Obama stronger, promising to lead us in a 100 year war in Iraq, or perhaps wearing 500 American flag pins all at once?

American Society has generally failed miserably to initiate men into manhood or recognize the value and qualities of “eldership” Obama is too young and has not gone through enough initiation ordeals in his life to give him the kind of strength I’m talking about. He's seems to be surrounded by supporting women which doesn't always allow a man to test his mettle. Being an orator or sending a million troops into battle doesn’t make a man and is not a sign of strength or wisdom. Paddling each other at prep school doesn’t count either. Obama has not gone through the fire. If he think he has, that's proof that he hasn't. However, he WILL go through the fire during a presidency. That means it will be up to the citizens of the USA to hold the threads together because he will be going through his own crisis. You could say his crisis of testing will be our crisis of testing of how strong we are as citizens. Can we stand up and what do we really stand for? Once again, it will be time to respond to JKF "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country." But now...we have to ask on a more global EARTH level. "Ask not what I can take from the Earth, but what can I do for the Earth." Considering that we have consistently dumped our responsibilities of citizenship onto hapless politicians and deteriorated into gossip and "debate" instead of action, I would say that I would prefer a steadier and more tested arm to hold us through the next decade of social, cultural and economic, environmental crisis and revolution. When our leaders have not been initiated and are not true elders, society unravels. LBJ is an example of a President that went through an initiation fire in office. He tragically sent thousand of troops to die in Viet Nam and finally had a crisis of consciousness and discovered his mistake and decided to not run for another term. Growing up is not easy. We are having a romance with Obama but you know what happens to romance. I think the gender issue is bigger CHANGE than the race issue. I work with women of all races and ALL the women have the SAME complaints about men, no matter what race they are. So I don’t think voting for a black man is much different than voting for a white man. Skin color is skin deep whereas hormones and the ability to give birth is a much deeper difference. So I really hope Obama chooses a woman as a running mate. You asked about a running mate. Barbara Boxer stood against the whole of the rest of the US politics to stick to her truth. That was an initiation experience and I’d like to see at least one person in the next administration that has that quality. We need to send politicians out into the wilderness for forty days and nights with only a knife and no clothes. I think the popularity of Obama reflects the citizen’s desire to be more active participants but I’m not sure the citizens actually know what that is going to require. |

Wait a sec...you didn't tie in how these leaders are in a conspiracy with the construction near your house?!?!?! Did it end? Did you get help? What caused this change in the madmags I've grown to love?

No- of course the politicians and community leaders have done NOTHING.
What? do you think the leads in this Ward really lead???? Latest UPDATE- I'm working with a group interested in the EARTH and we discovered that the Headwaters of the infamous Wingohocking Creek starts in MY backyard and under these townhouses. In other words a powerful spring is coming up from under the Earth and it is the same source of water that has sunk so many homes in Philadelphia. Lo and Behold-Yesterday-- I went out and there was the Water Department! They asked if I had a leak-- no--- water was in the street- a neighbor called them-- I showed them the Creek Map. The developer nor City Council ever included the creek in the original plans. Planning Department totally sucked on this one. Poor Donna. At one time she asked if a source spring at another Wingohocken location could be tapped because homes were being destroyed. The answer was NO. You can't really tap a volcano so it won't blow , can you? Sometimes Mother Nature trumps politics. It's just a matter of time and a bit of rain. Paving over the flood plain will accelerate the show. My house may fall first-- but considering what the Joiners / Jointers Union said.... Nobody is talking. SSSSHHHHHH$$$$$$$$ It's just stupid to NOT fix this problem. Just stupid. But don't worry Alessis- I'm suffering a concussion but I haven't gone away. |

I looked at a house on Sydney street a few months back. Phew...glad I didn't move there. Clearly there is something in the water that causes you to rant endlessly on one topic and produce almost incoherent irrelevant arguments.
If you want to know what Obama will do as president, don't look at LBJ...look at Obama. He has a past. He has positions. Take G.W. Bush. He could have been 20 years older, but he still would have sat there like a dummy in that classroom finishing reading his story while he was being told about 9/11. I'm sure being a senator for 30 years is useful for something, but I don't see that as a particularily great bonus skill for leading a country. Compassion, intelligence, ethics, and a willingness to surround yourself with good people are important. Obama has those. Nothing wrong with Hillary, but she's no longer an option. |

Now mags, if they found an underground spring sinking the homes how did they let anyone build or stay in them? What can they do to fix them? I gotta admit, your story's kind of sticking to me now.

Zeppokafka- I didn't insult you. You asked a question who would make a good VP. I gave my opinion that I'd like it to be someone who had the strength I saw lacking in Obama. VP could become president and I admire Barbara Boxer for being the only one with the guts to stand up to the Bush. Perhaps you don't understand the concepts I was trying to explain. Read the work of Michael Meade. Or the Greeks or Shakespeare or Carl Jung. I agree Bush will probably die without ever completing certain developmental milestones. As far as the TOPIC- what do you think Obama would do? pick one (easy) : A) Clean things up and act for environmental justice? B) Poison the people? Alesis- nobody is living over there. They're still working. Do you really think they wouldn't just pretend the Spring isn't there? Just like they pretend they didn't dump oil and chemicals into it and there was no gasoline tank and contaminated dust doesn't make people sick? I'll take care of it with none of your help-- just like I always have. I forced them to get rid of much of the contaminated soil. Nobody else did a damn thing. You guys keep drinking and doing nothing and allow wrongs to go unchecked, then when somebody in your family gets sick with cancer because of pollution you can drink another beer so you can forget that you didn't do anything. This is why I hate political conversation. I forget - All talk No action. Zero poetry I saw Eurydice last night I think I will stick to speaking only to people who speak the language of water. Like Bob Dylan I told Alesis once, I'm an artist, not a soccer mom. I'll write whatever way I want and if you don't get it, that's your problem. Don't buy the book. East Sydney is a Great Street that deserves good flood and watershed plan. The Wingohocken is a great Creek with an important history. It's been violated over and over. The City failed in its opportunity to restore the environmental health of this Spring. Everybody looses. |

Seriously madmags, what am I supposed to do? In fact, I was in a neighbohood meeting all night about my own neighborhood-I don't think you were there. Should I say you don't care because you are not dealing with my neighborhood issues right now?
