you guys are awesome, thank you so much for all of the great responses. i forgot, i actually did have brunch at cafette about 6-7 years ago, and thought it was adorable. i'd definitely go back.

i really appreciate all your help. not sure when i'm going to actually get to these places, but i will definitely report back when i do.

eventually planning a move out of Center City in the next couple of years, so perhaps we'll be neighbors someday.

Default Cafette, absolutely

For breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Also, Cake on Highland Avenue. Breakfast and lunch (fabulous) every day; dinner (not up to par the one time we tried it) on Thursdays only. Plus luscious take-home pastries.

Shundeez (Middle Eastern food) is supposed to be very good; haven't been there myself.

Another vote, too, for Hokka Hokka and McNally's.

I drive a little bit to Maria's on Ridge and Summit for Italian.
I agree with you about Maria's. Best Italian around. Best sushi is out in Plymouth Meeting at Bluefin. Nothing compares.
