New Lincoln, on the corner of Lincoln and Mt. Pleasant is decent, thin crust Italian style. Not terrific, but the best I've found since moving up here a year ago. Agreed about Cosimos -- it's sort of like a non-chain Sabarro.

You aren't going to find it in the NW...sorry. When I really need real pizza, no choice but to head to Lorenzo's at 9th and Christian (top of the Italian Market), Sarconne's for tomato pie (yummm and bread of course) or Taconelli's, but hate that whole ordering a day in advance thing.
The pizza at "The Boot" on Germantown pike, just north of Chill is pretty decent...best I have had near here. Fino's gets peoples votes due to complete lack of real competition. We actually like Mom's Bake at Home on Willow Grove in Chill. You can jazz it up yourself at home. |

Sadly, Philly just isn't a pizza (or wings) town. I grew up in northeast PA, and Philly's best probably couldn't crack the top 10 in either category (not counting foo foo gourmet pizza restaurants). NEPA is right up there with New Haven and NY.
Fino's is what I usually get (live in W. Mt. Airy), but mainly because most of the others are of the dreaded Sbarro family, but $24 for a large & med plain delivered does seem pretty steep. Outside of the NW, my Philly top 5 in no specific order would be: Joey Mack's on Oregon (day old $1 slices, but with character), Tacconelli's (good, but nowhere near worthy of requiring dough reservations), Marra's, Lorenzo's, and Mama Palma's. |
