Default What is Germantown?

Essentially, the boundaries of Germantown are:

--Washington Lane on the north
--The R7 Chestnut Hill E tracks/Wister Ave. on the south
--Stenton Ave. on the east
--Wissahickon Ave. on the west

The northern and eastern boundaries are a bit fuzzy. Some argue that G'Town goes as far north as Upsal St. Some also argue that Johnson St. is the divider, as that divides zip codes 19144 and 19119. Mt. Airy USA says Washington Lane, as do the street banners on G'Town Ave. And I've only seen Stenton used as a boundary for G'Town once that I can recall, but it seems to me to be a natural boundary.

I think it's safe to say Stenton is the Eastern Boundary.

When I was a kid and lived on Manheim Street back in the 50s, we considered everything north of Wayne Junction and the Midvale-Heppenstall steel plant to be part of Germantown. When I was a young adult and live on Milne Street by Fernhill Park, we also considered ourselves to be in Germantown. I wonder about Wister STreet as a southern boundary.

I had friends who lived on Manheim St. in the 50's. I lived on East Queen Lane at the time. Do you remember the New Lyric theater?

Wayne Junction/ Roberts Ave is the southern boundary for Germantown. Anything below Wayne Junction is considered Nicetown.

Johnson St. is considered the northern boundary.

Stenton Ave. is part of the eastern boundary, especially as it slices it's way south of Wister St.

Wissahickon Ave is the western boundary until you hit Walnut Ln. Then Germntown slices a bit farther west up to Johnson St.

But other than that, the boundaries you post are okay.
