Default Roofer, Plumber & Carpenter Recommendations

My wife and I are buying a house in Chestnut Hill and will need plumbing, roofing and carpentry work done.

Specifically with the plumbing, we'll need someone to do some basic work with the shower pressure (diverter, valve) and toilet, but the bigger issue will be replacing about 3 feet of the sewer and run-off pipe in the basement until it reaches the foundation/ground. Anyone use someone that might be good for these jobs?

Regarding the roofing, the roof is pooling water in a couple locations due to the lack of pitch and/or small drain. Thus, we'll want to have someone install a bigger drain and, if necessary, alter the pitch so the rain water will properly drain. We'll also need the silver protective coat applied. Recommendations?

Regarding the carpentry, we need some joists in the basement sistered for extra support. We'll also need a finishing carpenter for built-in bookshelves. We may also want to re-do some of the ballasts on the front porch. Anyone got recommendations for those needs?

Thanks very much in advance for any recommendations!

Zaccharia roofing. He's in the NE and did mine near the Art Museum; I'm assuming he'll do your area, too. I'll PM you with a carpenter when I find his #. Did my kitchen, etc.

Default shop local; check out the Stock Group

Check out Chris at The Stock Group (www.thestockgroup.net). By hiring a General contractor, you only need to deal with one person (less stress!!) and oftentimes, get a better price (volume) than you would hiring different people for different jobs.

The company relocated to Mt Airy in the past year and business has grown purely through word-of-mouth referrals. Chris is local, responsive, reliable, fairly priced, and insured. He'll show up when he's supposed to, do the job for the price agreed to, and will offer low-cost, eco-friendly suggestions to save $$$.

The website needs to be updated with local jobs / photos but local references are avail. upon request.

Disclaimer: he's my boyfriend / partner / significant other person. That alone makes him a saint!

I recommend my plumber, Bill Spigelmeyer, 215-646-4550.

Good quality work, responds to emergencies quickly, and as an added bonus his name is fun to say. Try spoonerizing it.

Okay, maybe I should get out more.

BTW, he's not cheap, but his prices are pretty standard, and anyway I think he's worth what he charges.

Try David Jeremy for carpentry and plumbing. He can do pretty much anything, might even do the roofing work. he is very trustworthy and works his tail off. You won't worry about him not showing up or milking the clock. he just renovated a house on my block for a client of mine and did a magnificent job for a very competitive price.

he can be reached at 215-609-7299

I'd highly recommend Albie Jones/Keltic Construction.

Great results, fairly priced...He and his crew have done a lot of work in Chestnut Hill, Mt Airy, and Germantown.
