Default Looking for an honest auto mechanic

I've seen recommendations for Roxborough area. Any others a little closer? Im on Chew ave close to Mt Airy ave.
My fiance and I have been screwed pretty badly by another garage and we just want to find an honest guy to deal with from here on out.
Please list your recommendations. It's greatly appreciated!

We've been pretty happy with Fred's Mount Airy Motors, just up Mt. Airy from you. They saved us several thousand bucks on a repair that a dealership mis-diagnosed. (it was $12 bracket; the dealership wanted to replace the suspension and a bunch of other stuff).

Update:

Unfortunately I cant give Freds Mt Airy Motors a thumbs up. We called monday and they said they couldnt take a look at it until Friday, I told them the 2 problems it had, and the parts neded for one of the problems- the other they'd have to troubleshoot.
We towed the vehicle there Thursday evening to drop off for Friday and went in to drop off the keys. After the hostess called in the garage head mechanic, she told him about the two parts I needed looked at. We were told that they do not install those parts (soleniod for tranny). They were told Monday what the parts were, why did I have to have my car towed there if you knew you couldnt work on one of the main problems??
Either way I said go ahead and fix the other problem. Didnt hear anything from them on Friday, even though they were done looking at it. I had to call monday to get an update. I was told that it needed a new feul pump, but that they cant fix it because the gas tank is too big.
WTF...
I just wasted a week of my time and my fiances time by her not having a vehicle and me having to chauffer her to and from work.

I'll find out when its picked up if they decide they want to charge me...

I guess I'll be trying one of the other garages now. Really dissapointed.

We've had a lot of luck with Monty's. It's on Walnut, east of Germantown. They've been reliable, honest, and reasonably priced. Very nice guys.

Just wanted to post a quick update because I forgot to mention this. The shop mechanic at Freds Mt Airy motors said that they couldnt do the feul pump repair because they couldnt remove the gas tank on the jeep due to its size and weight. This is only, as he said, because their lifts still arent ready since they had a fire at their building.

Just wanted to throw that out there. They were very nice people, and it wouldnt prevent me from going back, I just wish I would have known this a week earlier, and not have wasted time and effort, thats all...

Default A & W Auto repair

I've been using and recommending A & W in the unit block of East Meehan by Able Plumbing. I've had a number of years with them and they've been fair and reasonable.

A)solenoid for tranny? That sounds like an automatic. I drive sticks and have never heard of that. If so, yet another reason to drive a manual shift. What kind of "jeep" is this whose gas tank is too big (a Wagoneer?); these are very weird complaints.
