Default Parking for moving truck

I just moved to Chestnut Hill from California. I thought the movers were coming on Friday, and I had all week to figure out what to do about the moving truck's parking, but they just called and said they'll be here at 8am Wednesday. Is there anything we need to do to get a parking permit for the truck, or can we make sure there's a place for them to park? We don't have permit parking on our street.

Thanks.

I am not sure which block you are moving to, but at 8 Am, you will still probably have a good number of people yet to leave for work and if it is a smaller street, it might cause a traffic nightmare. If you can get them to come at 9 Am it might run a little smoother.

I don't think you need to worry about permits in the city. I would just take the opportunity to advise your neighbors the night before that you might have to block the street for some time during the day or use up a lot of parking spaces. I am sure they will be very understanding and will welcome you to the neighborhood and it will give you a chance to meet them. They might even help you save some spots for the truck on Wednesday.

By the way, when it snows here and people shovel out their cars, they often save their spots with trashcans or chairs. It really isn't legal, but most everyone does it and if you shovel out your car, you will understand the feeling of "owning that spot" until everything melts. Just want to give you a heads up on something you might not have had to deal with in sunny California!
