In my opinion, the best steak shop nearby is Chubby's. No offense meant to previous posters but I found D'Alessandro's steaks to be the worse I've ever had. Seriously awful.
Have you eaten there recently? Maybe the Steaks are bad because of the new ownership. I haven't eaten there in 2 years(I still live out of state), but the last time I was there, The Cheesesteak I had was Great!

It was about 2 1/2 years ago. Perhaps it was just a bad day but that steak was offensively bad. First time I had ever met a cheesesteak that I had trouble finishing.

Nicks at Rittenhouse and Greene, and Fiesta in Chestnut Hill make fine steaks too...

Since good old Ridgeway Pizza closed (my vote for best steak in N.W. Philly) we really enjoy the aforementioned Toto's on Green and Horter. They have a new owner in the last year or so and the quality of the food has increased substantially. Great pizza steaks, tuna hoagies and wings, but the coolest thing for my red meat challenged lady and daughter are their veggie melt and chicken veggie melt. Broccoli, spinach eggplant, green peppers, 'shrooms, fresh tomatos, garlic- all stir-fried and piled on a hoagie roll, topped with mozzarella and baked in the pizza oven! Mmmmm, killer!! Can add chicken breast if desired too. I am a red meat carnivore, but I order one of these at least once a month, (provided I have otherwise been on point diet wise of course ). Nice friendly employees too, and they deliver! Toto's rules IMO!
