I've been looking just to see if there was some slight tremmor or something to explain it but nothing. I'm hoping this is not just a surprise in my house....but rather a community experience, which for some reason would make me feel better.

Oh, and yes, I do live by the train station but this has never happened before and yes, the bus comes by my house, but also this hasn't ever happened. It was definitely not your typical house creeks.
I live in Fairmount and you know, I felt the same thing happen in the past. It was late at night on a few occassions and I felt like my bed was rocking back and forth almost imperceptibly. It was so slight I couldn't tell if it were my imaginiation or not. Then my fiance moved in and came out of bed late one night into my home office when I was on the computer to tell me she felt like the house was swaying back and forth but she wasn't sure. Ah, yes, vindication. I wasn't imaginging things! Now the mystery deepens.... it sounds like a I live a little bit away from you? I know there is a Conrail line only a few lines away but I don't hear any trains when this happens so I'm not sure what it is. It only happens once every several months. Weird.

Due to the influx of NYers moving to Philly, it was only a matter of time before the Chuds started to arrive as well. That's the most logical explanation.

Sometimes (mostly on Friday and Saturday nights) when i get home and lay in bed i feel like my house is spinning, though when i put my foot down it generally takes care of that.

Default I feel the earth moove under my feet . . .

I don't know what it would be at that hour of the night.
I've felt strong movement/shaking during the day when there's construction going on a half-block from my row house. I visited the site to see which piece of equipment was causing that amount of movement and was surprised to find that it was the equipment with a huge roller on the front that smooths out the earth (I'd have thought it'd be something that dug into the earth). So sometimes something that doesn't appear to be so intrusive can be. A friend who'd lived in California was visiting once and thought that it was an earthquake.
