I'm looking to start a business in Mt. Airy. If you've been reading my other postings on PhillyBlog, you'll know that I've been presenting films here in Mt. Airy for the past couple months. I've been researching our area, and feel that there is a great opportunity here for a new kind of movie theater experience.
First, I'm looking for some business guidance. I've been working on a business model, but I have no experience building and running a business. I also need a web programmer/programmer/mac guy who could help me rework the website and design some custom Mac software. If you have some general suggestions and guidance for people looking to start a business in Mt. Airy, please post it here, I'm sure we could all benefit from your experience. Otherwise please contact me via email. I hope to hear from you soon, where ever you are out there.... -David Titus DSTitus@gmail.com |

I went through the Women's Business Development program and it was good. They accept men too. They also have classes at Covenant. I was able to get a business plan written but then the City of Philadelphia and a group of Chestnut Hill Association Alumni and Mt Airy Community Memembers decided to bomb me out of my house with toxic vapors from an unregulated underground gasoline storage tanks and I got too sick to continue with my plan.
But now I'm trying to climb back and I need some biz coaching too. Also this abuse toward me by the City and local gentry has changed my work direction. I've been going to open mics and developing an act based on a character called the Revolution Diva and also the Medicine Woman Diva-- so any alternative theater experience, open mic or stage I can grab and any place I can get up and point out the fact that the Emperor and the City Politicians have no clothes on would be really great. And more fun that all these lame political speeches we're hearing these days from the very people who allowed this bullshit to happen. So-- yeah-- I need some biz coaching-- a mic -- and a stage. madmags |

he Business Center at New Covenant campus is a good place, but another good place to go for business advice is Temple University Small Business Development Center. Like the Business Center, they have classes (for a fee), but they also offer free consultations. Their website is www.temple.edu/SBDC. Also, if you're looking for space, there are some spaces available on Wadsworth Ave.
